Pedlars launched this website in 2007 dedicated to not-for-profit publishing of information, resources and communications about pedlary. It provides a resource centre for all concerned with pedlary.

It regularly provides “update alerts” to its readership and recognises severe limitations for those pedlars who neither read nor write because pedlary for them remains an oral tradition.

The several researchers at prepare contributions and articles in response to issues arising whilst acknowledging the fundamental principle of pedlary being “individual” unfettered by any membership or organisation claiming to be the voice of pedlars.

Sensitivities about pedlary and any proposal to repeal the Pedlars Act, though dismissed as “emotive” by adversaries to pedlary, are supported by the many pedlars who endorse in writing the work of

Errors and Omissions are inevitable and we welcome contributions that correct or challenge any text.

The Principle of the Pedlars Act provides common law privilege to any eligible pedestrian person to trade with complete freedom based on any simple individual contract within any part of the UK.

Government BIS attack on the civil liberty of free trade:

21 August 2013 update re government so-called consultation:

Why would government consider destroying such a wonderful direct protection of freedom and liberty for individual and society?
With what purpose does government consider repealing such social and humane liberty?
This government refuses to make its case and intends using bulldozer powers called a Statutory Instrument.

With the fallacious pretense of providing greater freedoms to pedlars, ministers intend imprisoning pedlars under local authority sanction/regulation/licence/shut-down... a remedy that kills the patient.
BIS policy undermines Crown authority of unhindered free trade and harms consumers by providing councils with monopoly powers to limit free trade and fair competition.

Questions have been asked of the British government... with a reply of deafening silence.

The Principle of the Pedlars Act:

Pedlars are lawful street traders but regulation differs under the authority of a "certificate" or "licence".

A "certificate" is issued by the Crown. A "licence" by local authority.
The Pedlars Act simply allows a person to step out of doors to go about and meet up with any other person within public law and order.
The Pedlars Act provides a person with a Certificate of good intent... bona-fides.
A certificate attests to honest intent by a person offering to trade any goods/services [or other] in good faith.
The pedlar may simply offer conversation or immediately complete a private contract about either goods or services that satisfies both parties.
Local legislation for "licensed" static street traders provides pedlars with "exemption from that regulation" whilst "acting as a certificated pedlar".

The Pedlars Act is the most allowing and enabling piece of legislation on the UK statute book... is available gratis to some 50 million people.

We at are the few defending the many.

Act now to help us STOP ignorant government treachery.
